“So, what’s the plan?” A question that everyone asked, and a question that I never could answer. Praise God that he is a God who is alive and answers our prayers, so that now I can confidently say, “My plan is to serve God in the mission field for the next two years with my campus fellowship ‘In Christ Alone.’”
During the past four years of college, I’ve been able to experience God and His amazing love. During times of loneliness, heartache, and suffering, he said to me, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you (Heb. 13:5).” When I realized what a great sinner I was, he told me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness (2 Cor. 12:9).” At times when fear filled my heart, He spoke again and said, “Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go (Joshua 1:9).” Our God is indeed a God who is alive and listens to our prayers!
There have been many voices and many options in the process of deciding what my next step should be, but I’ve learned that, in the end, the only thing that matters is one voice and one decision—to trust in God and to obey his calling. I’ve been trusting in the wisdom of the world, instead of the mighty God who repeatedly tells us to trust in Him and Him alone, and He will make our paths straight (Prov. 3:4-6). I need to believe that if He brings me to the mission field, then He will provide. He is a mighty God who is not limited by any of our faults. Instead, He shines through and lets us know that He is God.
I’ve experienced a God who loves me with a love beyond my understanding. I’ve personally experienced this love. It is a love that comforts, a love that brings peace, a love that gives hope, and it is this love that drives me to obey, to give up my life, and to give him my all.
Therefore, for the next two years, I will be going to Lanzhou, China. Lanzhou is the capital of Gansu Province, with a population of almost three million. The city is located in the geographic center of China. In the past year, God has blessed the ICA ministry there with over 20 new believers. This summer, a short-term mission team will also be working there. Therefore, there is also a need for follow up after they leave. My work there will be focused on college ministry and will involve the making of disciples through evangelizing on campus, holding Bible studies, and one-to-one meet ups. At the same time, I will be mentored throughout the process and learn how to grow in a Christ-like character.
I have never been to this city and there are so many things that I do not know, but I want to hold on to this promise from God:
“I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them.”
Is. 42:16.
This is a faith journey, and I need all the prayer support I can get. At the same time, I also need to raise USD $28,000 for the next two years of ministry. This money will cover my housing and living expenses, and also my travel expenses for the next couple of years. Please partner with me in whatever way you are able to. If you want to support me through prayer, please email tim.k.wang@gmail.com and simply say, “I want to support you through prayer!” If you would like to support me financially, please write checks out to “V-SET” and “Tim Wang SMP# 081019” in the memo line and send it to:
